Help to maintain our Member's Loops Join a GMHA Trails Work Day Help to Re-Mark the Historic 100-Mile Trail Become a Trail Steward Become a Landowner Ambassador I've got machinery and skills and would like to help with bigger projects Member's Loop MaintenanceWe have over 70 miles of Member's Loop Trails. Help us in the Spring by riding, walking or biking the loops to check/refresh markers and clear branches. Help us anytime by clipping low-hanging branches - can be done from horseback! I'm interested. Contact me to discuss details and schedule a time. GMHA Trails Work DayWe have scheduled 1 work day in this Spring to tackle some straightforward trail maintenance - primarily clearing branches and trees and digging out water bars. Depending on weather and number of volunteers, we will break up into small teams and work for 4 hours - from 8am to noon, then have lunch and you are free to go. Saturday, May 13 Re-Mark the Historic 100-Mile TrailWe are refreshing the markers on the historic 100-Mile Trail this year. Taking down the crumbling wooden markers and rusty metal can tops and replacing them with more durable, streamlined and visible plastic markers. As you can imagine, this is a big job. Are you willing to lend a hand? We will assign you a section of trail and give you the supplies and you can do this anytime before August 15th. Some sections can be done by car, others by ATV, on foot or on horseback. I'm interested. Contact me to discuss details and schedule a time. Trail StewardAdopt a trail! Trail Stewards are locals who commit to walk or ride a section of trail or trails in their area on a regular basis. They report on any conditions needing attention and do light clearing and clipping when needed. With 400 miles of trails, it sure helps to have more eyes and feet patrolling out there! I'm interested. Contact me to discuss details and schedule a time. Landowner AmbassadorIf you live locally and enjoy getting to know your landowning neighbors, this is a great role for you. Landowner Ambassadors help us to maintain good relations with our landowners. Each Ambassador is assigned a group of landowners in their local area. They stay in touch, calling once or twice a year to make sure the landowners know when we'll be using the trail, listening and conveying any feedback or concerns, and helping us to explore and open new trails. I'm interested. Contact me to discuss details and schedule a time. Got Machinery and Skills?Sometimes we have a need for some mechanical assistance. Are you good with a chain saw? Do you have mowing, digging, raking or other useful equipment for trail maintenance? Let us know you're out there. Some of this work is volunteer and some of it is paid, depending on the scope. I'm interested. Contact me to discuss details and schedule a time.
