Join the Board – Volunteer – Join a Committee

GMHA is always looking for help in keeping our organization growing and thriving.  Here are some of the opportunities that you may want to consider.

Volunteer: Without the help of our intrepid volunteers, GMHA’s events would never happen. In 2015, we had almost 300 volunteers. With our busy calendar of top quality equestrian events, there’s sure to be a date, event, and job that works for you! Visit our volunteer page to learn more.

Serve on a committee: We have permanent and ad hoc committees which do an enormous amount of great work.  From stuffing envelopes to fundraising, we are always looking for expertise and energy to help out. Contact Bruce Perry, Executive Director to learn more.

Serve on the Board:  The Nominating Committee is always looking for top-notch candidates for your Board of Directors.  The key is to provide a balance of skill sets and perspectives, as well as a board culture of collaboration.

“Our job is to help this membership organization develop new leadership and cultivate a strong and effective board.  We have at least one seat opening up each year, often more than that, so we try to set up a plan several years in advance just to make sure we’ve got leadership succession, and a good balance of folks on the Board.  In addition to balancing skills sets, we look for geographic, gender and discipline balance.”

Serving on the Board is a demanding job, so we look for folks who have demonstrated commitment to GMHA (and who know us well enough to know what they are getting themselves into!). Let us know if you’re interested in serving, or if you know of someone who you think would be an asset to the GMHA Board.  Recommendations received before July 15 will be considered for the current year’s ballot.  Recommendations received after July 15 will be considered for the following year’s ballot.

At GMHA, we value everyone’s help and we couldn’t do it without you. We hope that each and every one of you will get involved and contribute to the growth and well being of our organization. We look forward to hearing back from you and welcoming you to the GMHA team!
