Policies

In the interest of the safety, health, and consideration of all GMHA members and our neighbors please help us by familiarizing yourself and observing the following rules and policies:

GMHA is a smoke free facility. There is no smoking or vaping permitted in any building or on the grounds. You may smoke in your vehicles, or out near the road.

No fires, grills, hibachis, or bonfires.

Woodstock Zoning grants GMHA limited permits for select driving and trail events.

Camping must be reserved on the entry form and is subject to available space. Use of generators is not permitted and there are no hook-ups.

Well behaved dogs are permitted but must be leashed, in-hand and under control, or confined (in a crate or kenneled) at all times. Loose dogs may be impounded, and offenders fined $50 per occurrence.

  • Clean up after your dog and dispose of it in one of our many trash receptacles.
  • Do not leave your dog unattended in the stable area to become anxious and cause a disturbance.
  • Dogs are not allowed on cross-country course on cross-country or marathon days.

Please help us to keep GMHA looking great!

Trash cans and recycling bins are provided around the facility. Please put your trash in the trash bin and your recyclable cans and bottles in the ZERO SORT bin provided. Shavings bags are recyclable!

We require all individuals stabling a horse at GMHA to complete in full and post a stall information card. Cards are available at the office and in most entry packets. These cards are for your horse’s well-being in the event of an emergency.

Those who leave behind dirty stalls will be billed $50.00. A clean stall is one that has been cleaned of all manure and shavings that can be removed using a manure fork and shovel.  GMHA provides wheelbarrows. We do not provide cleaning utensils. Please rake your stall area all the way out to the railing and put manure/soiled bedding in designated areas. Stall stripping may be available on Sunday at “select events.”  Inquire with the Show Manager/Secretary if the event will be offering Stall Stripping.

For the safety of all GMHA requires a negative Coggins and proof of rabies vaccination within 12 months for all horses entering the grounds.  Rabies titers are accepted within one year of event date and must accompany a note from your veterinarian explaining the reason why the vaccine could not be administered.

  • We recommend that you be aware of state policies regarding the requirement for a current health certificate when traveling across state lines. Consult your local veterinarian on this matter. The VT Agency of Agriculture may enforce these regulations at any time.

Wheel or motorized vehicles, motorized bikes, E-Bikes, Segways, strollers, wagons, etc.  are prohibited on the cross-country course when cross-country or marathon event is running.

GMHA requires SAFE SPORT Certification for participants in USEF recognized/endorsed events.  USEF members are required to be SAFE SPORT CERTIFIED in order to participate (i.e., Dressage and Eventing/Horse Trials).  This includes riders, owners, trainers/coaches, and parents of minors competing.  Please contact the show manager or secretary with questions.

All participants including visitors, volunteers, competitors, trainers/coaches, owners, vendors, etc. MUST sign a GMHA liability waiver.  All GMHA events include a copy of the waiver with its entry forms and registration process.  A copy of the GMHA waiver can also be found at this link: WAIVER OF LIABLITY – GMHA 2024

It is compulsory, regardless of age, for all GMHA participants while mounted or driving to wear properly fitted and fastened protective headgear which meets or exceeds current ASTM/SEI standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag.

NO EARLY ARRIVALS or HOLD OVERS without prior approval of the Executive Director and event management staff. Adherence to this policy allows us necessary facility preparation between events.

Do not block dumpsters, bridges, or roadways. Do not park alongside either side of C barn. Horses and equipment should be unloaded as quickly as possible. Do your ‘stall set up’ after you have parked in one of our trailer parking areas.

It is competitors’ responsibility to read and adhere to the refund & scratch policy for each event entered. PLEASE see specifics on each event’s entry forms and omnibus/prize list.

Refer to GMHA Covid-19 Policy.  Changes will be posted at GMHA during the event.  SPECTATORS and non-essential guests are permitted but must follow masking/social distancing policy requirements in place at the time of the event.
