Interested in learning about Distance Trail Riding in a fun, relaxed environment?
Join us for a series of four (4) Starter Distance Rides this year! The day will feature a discussion opportunity from an at home pre-ride Power Point presentation, Q&A, a hands-on clinic, vetting process, and scoring followed by a lesson opportunity on supporting conditioning and equine balance with ring work with Robin Groves (USA Young Rider Endurance Coach & Endurance Rider & Driver).
You will experience a pre-ride exam by an experienced judge and then complete a measured trail loop. Upon returning, you will cool your horse out, complete PR recovery assessment and complete the judging process for final scoring.
The series will culminate with a celebration and a fourth ride of a 15-mile CDR (ECTRA sanctioned) during Distance Days on 8/31/2024! Join in the fun of a historic and fun filled ride this year.
Your entry fee includes a light breakfast, lunch, educational experience, measured trail ride and vetting experiences.
Not riding, but want to become part of our amazing group of volunteers? Join us for a fun weekend helping out one or both days! Click button to the right for more details and to sign up 🙂
Benefits of Distance Trail Riding:
GMHA requires a negative coggins and proof of rabies vaccination (rabies titers accepted with note from veterinarian) within 12 months for each horse that comes on the property.
Please note that the State of Vermont requires a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection within 30 days or Exhibition Permit from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Animal Health office for any horses entering the state. GMHA does not require these documents with entry, but the VT Agency of Agriculture may enforce these regulations at any time.
