SUMMARY:Memorial Day Pleasure Rides
DESCRIPTION:Pleasure Rides on Saturday and Sunday depart from and return to the GMHA grounds. Each day will feature a marked trail through the beautiful landscape of Vermont in the spring-time through fields\, woods\, water crossings and of course\, hills with vast views. Short and long mileage options will be offered. Saturday’s ride features a pre-ordered on trail lunch (weather permitting). \nPlease note\, GMHA reserves the right to limit participant numbers due to trail and weather conditions. \nThese rides offer multiple options: \n\nAll inclusive rides (stabling & meals) on well marked trails with water for horses\nSingle-day rides (meals & stabling)\n“No-frills” rides\nPlease click on details in the event hub\nOnly “complete” entries will be processed (entry form\, coggins/rabies\, waivers signed\, form of payment submitted)\nCamping is available for GMHA Members at this event!\nPlease refer to information on entry forms regarding our refund policy

SUMMARY:Fall Foliage Pleasure Ride
DESCRIPTION:Continue to Celebrate Green Mountain Horse Association 100th anniversary as you ride through stunning Vermont landscapes- winding woodland paths\, open fields\, and breathtaking hilltop vistas along GMHAs renowned many trails. \nSet your holiday weekend in motion with Thursdays Trailer Ride Out\, departing from an offsite location and offering a unique opportunity to explore even more of the Vermont countryside. \nJoin us for camaraderie\, crisp autumn air\, fall color in the mountains and unforgettable miles in the saddle as we honor a century of horses\, history and horsemanship at GMHA. \nBegin the day with a light breakfast fare and ride briefing. The trail is then open for riders to head out on either a short loop or long loop option. Enjoy a pre-ordered lunch served at a scenic location along the way\, or back at GMHA. \nThere are all inclusive (stabling and meals) single & multiple-day ride options\, as well as “No Frill” rides (no stabling or meals). \nPre-Registration is required.\n\nThis ride fills quickly. GMHA does not accept “Day of entries” for this ride. No entries after the closing date\, no exceptions.\nA wait list will be put in place once the ride fills. Riders will be notified via email that they have been placed on the waitlist.\nOnly complete entries will be accepted and processed (Includes payment &  equine health requirements – proof of current coggins & influenza & rabies vaccination)\nOne rider per horse (no double riding).  If a rider is sharing a horse\, each rider requires a separate entry.\nEveryone must wear an ASTM certified helmet with chin strap secured.\nEntries open August 19th\, 2026 and close September 9th\, 2026 by 5pm (unless ride is capped)\n\n  \nGMHA Pleasure Ride’s REFUND POLICY\n\nIf entry is withdrawn prior to the CLOSING date of September 9th by 5pm\, entry fee & stabling will be refunded minus a $30.00 office processing fee – refunds are issued\, FOLLOWING the event. Refunds after the closing (Or Ride close date) date of Sept 9th (after 5pm) are not refundable.\nPlease\, carefully read the entry form before filling it out to avoid un-necessary processing of refunds and extra paperwork.\nManagement reserves the right to cancel a ride should there be concerns regarding the safety of a horse or rider.\n\n  \nAdditional details coming soon!

SUMMARY:Hunter Pace
DESCRIPTION:This is a team event!  There are two divisions:\n\nHunting Pace (faster)\nHacking Pace (leisurely)\n\nThe optimum time is set beforehand and is not known by the riders.  You should set your own pace according to good sense and your horse’s condition and fitness level. \nTeams of up to three (4) riders each\, and costumes or matching outfits encouraged!  \n\nIf more than 4 riders\, please split into two teams from the same barn/group and we’ll send you out one team after the other.\nIf you have less riders\, teams of 2 are accepted.\nYou may enter as an individual\, but riders under the age of 18 cannot ride alone.  An adult must accompany them.  We’ll do our best to put you on another team\, but placement is not guaranteed.\n\nSchedule: \n\nSaturday\, October 17th:  Arrivals/Check-in begins at 7:30am\n\nPost entries will not be accepted.  Everyone MUST be pre-entered by the closing date of October 8\, 2026\nParking for trailers/tow vehicles is in the main trailer lot between the office and the large white Upwey barn.  Car parking in front of the tie-rails of A & B barns.\nIf stabling the night before\, arrivals to start after 3pm on Friday.  Bring your own bedding/hay\, or preorder by Monday (10/12) prior to the event to be delivered to your stall ahead of arrival.  Note – there is to be no riding/schooling on Friday if you arrive the day before.  Trail riding from grounds on Friday not permitted.  You can hand walk or graze your horses.\nStalls must be stripped clean of all hay/shavings/trash/bailing twine prior to departure.  Stalls left dirty after the event will be invoiced a $50 dirty stall fee.\n\n\nStart times will be assigned and sent to you via email provided on your entry form on Wednesday prior to event.\nThe pace will begin at 9:00/9:30am leaving from the GMHA grounds at the steward’s booth between the White Arena & Dust Bowl warm-up ring.\n\nReport to the starter/timer 5-10 minutes before your start time. Teams are sent out at 3-minute intervals.\n\n\nThe course is approximately 7.5 miles with a variety of XC fences throughout (there is a non-jumping option around every fence).  Fences range in height from 2′ to 2’11”.\nNo food truck service – plan on packing a lunch/snacks for after your ride.\nFREE cider donuts served by Cocoa Chaud until we run out and available at the Full Cheek Cafe starting at 7:30am\n\nMiriam of Cocoa Chaud will be here selling her French inspired gourmet coffees\, cocoa\, & hot cider in the morning.\n\n\nOvernight stabling available at an additional cost (stalls must be stripped clean upon departure or $50 cleaning fee applies):\n\n$60 night – non-GMHA Members\n$45 night – GMHA Members\nHay & Shavings must be preordered by Monday prior to event & will be delivered to your stall prior to arrival.\n\nHay – $12/bale\nShavings – $13/bale\n\n\n\n\n\nWater stop:  There will be a water stop\, or “hold\,” roughly 5.5 miles in with water available for your horse. You do not need to stop for any specified time\, but the Optimum Time for each division does include an extra 10-minutes for this hold. \n\nAWARDS:  Prize & ribbons awarded in each division and BEST TEAM COSTUME! Vermont trails offer an expansive variety of terrain and widely regarded as one of the best tests of horsemanship known to offer equestrian fitness available today. This weekend’s distances include a 50-mile Endurance\, 25-mile Limited Distance ride\, a 15-mile conditioning ride\, 10-mile Introductory ride and a 5-mile Members only-no-frills pleasure ride. All divisions are duo sanctioned\, ECTRA & AERC and will be following ECTRA & AERC rules and regulations. GMHA’s trail rides are registered with the New England Horse & Trail. \nWant to step outside your comfort zone and learn more about competitive trail riding and distance riding. This is your opportunity to build knowledge and have fun with your equine partner\, and meet new friends in a relaxed friendly and supportive environment. \n\nPre-registration is required. Only complete entries will be accepted (complete entry form\, form of payment\, and horse health requirements (Coggins/Flu/Rabies) included).
