Policy Updates from GMHA and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture:
Please note that for the 2013 season, GMHA will be requiring a Certificate of Rabies Vaccination within 12 months for all horses entering the grounds. This is in addition to our existing policy requiring proof of negative Coggins test within 12 months for all horses. Both documents should accompany all entries to GMHA events and travel with the horse to GMHA.
In addition to GMHA’s policy above, all riders and drivers should take time to review the following information from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture. GMHA has received word that Vermont will be increasing their enforcement efforts on these laws:
In addition to requirements imposed by the individual shows or events (see GMHA policy above), all horses imported into Vermont (traveling into Vermont from other states), regardless of purpose, must travel with a negative Coggins test obtained within 12 months of importation and a health certificate dated within 30 days of import. If a horse is traveling to various shows in Vermont throughout the traditional show season, the horse owner may acquire an Exhibition Permit from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Animal Health office, which extends the life of the health certificate up to 180 days as long as the horse moves interstate to its first show within 30 days of the health certificate examination by the veterinarian.
