"Long Timers" Reunion
A chance for members and former members to gather at GMHA and celebrate the "old days"See event details »
In 2013, a grassroots committee was formed to bring together longtime members, old friends and competitors of GMHA to reminisce about the “good ole days.” It approached the organization with a plan for a Reunion of these members and former members to be held at the Roger and Ana Ela Youth and Education Center. GMHA was delighted with the idea.
The committee—which included West Windsor residents Freddy (Maher) Steinberg, Barbara Gerstner and Linda Johnson—initiated a networking process through a flurry of phone calls that in turn generated many more contacts. Soon, they were able to reach a good number of invitees who were excited to attend the Reunion and reconnect with old friends.
In June, a lovely informal wine and cheese gathering, provided entirely by the committee members, was held at GMHA’s Youth Center bringing together approximately 60 members and former members, including some GMHA board members, to celebrate the “old days.” The two hour event flew by as attendees shared memories and poured over GMHA’s archive of old photo albums, which were a huge hit. They diligently helped to identify folks in the photos, writing the names on “post-its” and affixing them onto the prints for historical reference.
Everyone there could also experience the fun and excitement of pre-ride horse activity by viewing the 25-Mile Ride and Drive trot outs being held in the Pavilion. A row of rocking chairs was set up for folks to watch and actively comment on the horses, just like in days past.
Another Reunion will most definitely be planned for 2014, so help spread the word for another wonderful get-together of long-time friends!

2013 Event Recap:
After a one year hiatus, GMHA brought back the well supported Chef’s Night this past July to the delight of many previous attendees. Over 400 guests reveled in a stunning evening of sampling fine local foods, wines, and beer while being entertained by a driving dressage presentation and pairs stadium jumping.
Under sunny skies, the event began in a similar fashion as previous years with guests moving about the massive tent, mingling with friends, visiting with top local restaurants, and making new favorites. Samples of entrees, soups, appetizers, desserts, and beverages were all present and enjoyed while listening to the background music of the East Bay Jazz group. With over 40 purveyors present, no one left hungry or thirsty.
The equestrian program began with a beautiful driving dressage presentation by the father/daughter team of Keith and Kaylee Angstadt. Following the dressage was an exciting Pairs Jumping competition with teams from Greylock Farms, Fox Penny Farm and The Hitching Post Farm. There was not an empty seat in the house as guests took a brief respite from dining to focus their attention on the magnificent equestrian activity.
Chef’s Night, now in its 6th year, has been hailed as “the most exciting social event in the Woodstock area”. Guests included equestrian and non-equestrian enthusiasts from all over the Upper Valley and GMHA members from near and far. Whether horse enthusiasts or not, guests delighted in the elegance, beauty and agility of the animals combined with the skill of the riders.
All proceeds from the event benefit GMHA.
Tickets will be on sale right here- check back in April!
